Under the premise of it being science fiction, Star Trek uses allegories to offer insightful social commentary on a range of different issues. Such as sexuality, race, war and gender. Star Trek has been a progressive force in television history who's effect continues to this day. With the expansion of the franchise into present day, there's is hope that the legacy of Star Trek can live on. And continue to have a similar, if not greater, impact on the social and political discourse.
